Happy New Year!

Choose a New Year’s Resolution That’s a Breath of Fresh Air!
Do you know why most New Year’s Resolutions fail? More than likely it’s because we set our goals too high and try to reach them on our own. Without the support and encouragement of others, it’s nearly impossible to succeed in anything.

So why not make a resolution for 2009 that you can share with others and work together to reach specific goals that would benefit us all?

Now you can, by simply doing your share for cleaner air! Imagine you and your friends, family members and co-workers working on a single resolution you can all feel good about – improving the quality of our air.

We encourage EVERYONE to participate in these important
"Air Quality" activities in 2009.

Put these on your calendar!
Pick an event that you want to participate in.
Encourage a friend to join you!

An up-to-date list of dates and event/activity schedules will be posted on our website in February.

What have you done to protect your home against radon?

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas, but it can build up inside homes and cause lung cancer (it's number 2, after smoking). You can buy radon test kits to check for radon, improve home ventilation, and other things. January is National Radon Action Month.

Action Tips for January
Make Fewer Trips – Cold engines pollute up to five-times more than warm ones. A cold engine is one that has been sitting for over an hour. Before jumping into your vehicle to run an errand, plan to link all of your errands together into one trip to minimize any "cold starts". And think of the money you'll save on gas, parking and car upkeep!

Another Driving Tip: Drive at a constant speed to save fuel and lower emissions.
