CAT Loses Lease at 60 West Broad Street, Bethlehem!
Planning Meeting Scheduled for 7 p.m., March 25!
For the past 15 years, CAT – Coalition for Appropriate Transportation has been the leading voice in the Lehigh Valley of bicycling for transportation, improving safe pedestrian access, promoting public transportation and using local trail systems.

Operating from its West Broad Street facility, called the Lehigh Valley Bike/Ped/Transit Center, CAT has accomplished a great deal to make our communities more walkable, to educate cyclists, motorists and traffic planners/engineers about safe bicycling, to ensure that public transportation is safe and pleasant, and to increase use of the trail systems in the Allentown parks, along the Lehigh Canal Towpath, the Monocacy Way, and other local public paths. Do You Know an Air Quality Champion?

AQP Seeks Nominations for 2009 R. Emmet Doherty Award!
The R. Emmet Doherty Award has been presented to air quality advocates in the Lehigh Valley region since 1970. On April 1, The Air Quality Partnership will begin accepting nominations from Partner organizations for the 2009 award.

We’re looking for those people in your organization who have contributed to promoting clean air in our region in professional or volunteer capacities. Nomination submissions will be accepted at the AQP website www.lvbcair.org until the end of Ozone Season on Sept. 30. One honoree will be chosen from the nomination pool generated by you, our valued Air Quality Partners. The 2009 recipient will be announced at the Partnership's fall meeting in November.

Use Water-Based Paints
Oil-based paints and varnishes contain a high percentage of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that evaporate into the air we breathe. The American Lung Association notes that in addition to causing eye or skin irritation, they also can cause lung and kidney damage. Choose low- or no-VOC paints, which are usually water-based latex varieties. They are less polluting and much easier to wash off your hands and equipment.
